  1. What made Alyce smile for the first was, she had enough sense, courage, strongness, and was proud of her self and the Bailiff’s notice that. Also she had enough courage to deliver a baby and help Jane the struggling mom. She tried once and nothing happened but when she did it this time she had the courage, she had the bravery, and the time to try again. Also she smiled because ever since she became the “devil” she has found out she has enough courage, bravery, and strength. When she found this out she also found out that she can do anything when she puts her mind to it.I also think what made her smile was Mr. and Ms. Bailiff notice that she was strong and a good kind person and to be smarter, nicer, and more helpful than Jane makes her feel nice and proud so thats what made her smile begin notice as smart. I think her life is starting to turn out well because, she has now found out what she’s capable of and knows that she can stand up for herself and is not just some peasant girl she much more than that. I also think her life is going to turn around because, she has found her power, she found out she can do anything, and has found out she has enough courage to help mother’s when they are laboring, she knows she can do anything!

  2. Things are turning out for Beetle because she just met a boy named Runt. Beetle didn't know what kind of name that was for a boy it usually is a pigs name. She tells Runt that her name is Alyce. The boy says that his name shall be Alyce to.”No Alyce is a girls name.” “What’s the kings name?” asks Runt.
After a while he calls himself Edward.
Everything is changing for Alyce because her being homeless and having everything with the midwife, just is a bit new for her and an example is that she helped a cow give birth. She has a new boy named Edward to run around and she is now getting really good changes in her life.
What made her smile for the first time was when Bailiff said,”We have no need of you, Jane. Your helper has taken care of us with her two strong hands and her good common sense.”
At that, Alyce felt so much pride and satisfaction that she had to let them out somehow, and so she smiled , which felt so good that she thought she might do it again.

  3. Some of the things that are turning around for Alyce are that first of all she used to live in a dung heap but now she sleeps in a nice cottage with a bed to sleep on instead of a dung heap. Also, she was poor and didn’t have much. She didn't have a bed, I don’t think she had blankets, or even a pillow. I don’t think she had that much food either. For what made her smile I was thinking it was The bailiff because they liked her because she was confident to deliver the baby. Also she was nicer, smarter, and more helpful than Jane. That’s what has been going on in her life so far.

    1. I think you should add a little more detail, because you really need to explain more so who ever is reading this and has never read the book can get what is going on in that part or how Alyce lives

  4. Q3. I think Alyce smiled for the first time because of the feeling of pride courage, and happiness made her smile for the first time. Knowing that she helped the bailiff's wife have her baby must have helped her to believe in herself and that she can do many things that other people can’t do.Alyces life has been turning for her first from being shooed out of towns, sleeping in a dung heap, and being called Brat or Dung Beetle, to being named Alyce, delivering babies, and living in a cottage with the midwife. I think Alyces life is a lot easier and better than her old life and i hope you think that too MS. WYMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
