What is special about Magister Reese? Is he really teaching Purr the cat to read instead of Alyce? What does the midwife tell Magister Reese about Alyce?

I think Magister Reese isn't teaching the cat because it says in chapter 13,”Jane sharp was not then talking about Alyce but of herself-Alyce should have known-and Magister Reese was writing it all down in his great encyclopaedia, while the cat nibbled his cheese and bread.” I think that he tought the cat how to obey and stay when Magister Reese wanted.
ReplyDeleteI think he did not teach the cat to read because cats can’t talk about what their reading.I think, instead of teaching the cat how to read, that he is in a way teaching the cat how to obey because usually normal cats would run away every time someone would come in (Like my grandparents cat.)
Magister Reese is special because he can write and Alyce can’t so she thinks he is special because like up in the first paragraph he writes everything down in an encyclopedia. He can write.
The Midwife says that,” The girl who used to work for me ran away and gave up instead of trying again.” People make mistakes so the Alyce just needed to learn from them.
Give examples on how you know it. To say you can bake a cake you have to show you know how or tell how you know. You would give an example!
DeleteWhat so special about Magister Reese is that he is showing new life to Alyce and telling her that she has a lot of potential for everyone, because she think or thought she was nothing until Magister Reese comes and shows her that she is something more than nothing she is a beautiful lady with potential . He is not really teaching Purr he is showing Purr and hoping Alyce joins in to learn with them, because he would not want to show a cat he want to show a person like Alyce about the world, spelling, reading and more. Also he want to teach Alyce and have her be smarter than she already is to live up to her full potential, because he knows she smart but not school smart so he is hoping to show her everything he knows. The Midwife or Jane was telling Magister Reese that she had recently lost an apprentice and how she got all sad and thought she was nothing. Also Jane said that she wasn't dumb or stupid she just needed an apprentice who doesn't give up, because Jane thought you don’t need to run away if you fail you try again. Also she needs an apprentice who can take the worst and have enough confidence to try again, but Jane never thought she was stupid or worthless she was trying to build up her confidence. That is what I think about this blog post.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you explained this and how you went back into the text and you really put deep thinking into your work. Good Job.

ReplyDeleteI think Magister Reese is trying to teach Alyce to write/read.But Alyce is too shy to ask.So he teaches Purr the cat instead.
What the Midwife said about Ayce was that she was better company and help than any other apprentice she has ever had.But she did say that she needed a apprentice that never gave up.Alyce gave up after just one failure,so that means her confidence in herself was very low.Thats why she ran away.
What's special about Magister Reece is that he told Alyce to not treat herself like she’s nothing. He felt bad for her so he told her to not be mad at herself. Now Alyce will be the midwife's apprentice again. I think Magister Reece picks purr and hopes alyce will join in so she still doesn't feel like she’s nothing and so she feels like she is a smart, brave woman. That is what I think.
